Cory Band

The band’s concerts dare to step out of the traditional brass band genre to deliver a mixture of both blockbusting and beautiful music that everyone can enjoy.

The Cory Band, formed originally in 1884, is one of the finest of UK brass bands, hailing from Treorchy in the Welsh valleys. It has won many brass band championship titles and has gained a worldwide reputation for its competition victories, its concerts and its numerous recordings. It is also active in community outreach projects and in commissioning new works from British composers. The band’s current ‘Composer in Residence’ is Christopher Bond. Music Director since 2012, Philip Harper has a wealth of experience as a conductor, composer and tenor horn player.
