In the second concert by the Sacconi String Quartet, the Czech theme is continued with a performance of Dvorák’s String Quartet in G major, written towards the end of his life and undoubtedly one of his finest chamber works.
There is a rare chance to hear a quartet by the American composer Philip Glass, known for his minimalist music including a number of successful operas. The programme also includes one of the quartets that Mozart wrote and dedicated to his friend Haydn.
