James Meldrum is currently principal clarinettist with the New European Ensemble in The Hague and he also enjoys a busy career as a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared as soloist with many British orchestras, played at the Proms and other festivals, and also performed widely abroad. The Polish pianist Maciej Kassak was born into a musical family where he began learning the cello at age seven, followed by the violin, trumpet and piano. As well as pursuing his regular concert career, he also performs on luxury cruise liners around the world. James and Maciej began their collaboration in 2011 and together they have explored the repertoire of music for clarinet and piano. Their wide-ranging programme includes Debussy’s Première rapsodie, Poulenc’s clarinet sonata, and music by Gershwin.
