For their second concert the Piatti String Quartet play Brahms’ Quartet No.2. In contrast to the dark and serious first quartet, the second is lighter and more graceful in style, with elements of Brahms’ distinctive ‘Hungarian’ manner in evidence.

The other works in the concert are a short piece by Webern – an emotional and melodic slow movement, one of Haydn’s early quartets, and the Three Divertimenti by Benjamin Britten – a reworking of music he wrote while still a student.
